jHTTPp2 is a very small Java-based HTTP proxy server. It has been developed with several goals in mind.
Small and crossplatform support (Windows, Linux, MacOS)
Allows blocking of URL's via filter rules: One possible use of this feature is the blocking of ad-banners from known ad-networks.
Built-in WWW server for the web interface
Open-Source Software under the GNU Public License
Removes sensitive data from browser queries: these would allow conclusions regarding your operating system, the browser you use and your nationality. It also removes data that would tell the webserver from where, ie. from which site you're coming.
Supports HTTP/1.1
Allows secure connections (so-called SSL-tunneling). You can still visit secure sites through the proxy jHTTPp2
jHTTPp2 runs on Java, which means that jHTTPp2 runs on all operating systems with the Java Runtime
jHTTPp2 is still buggy and should be treatened as a Proof-of-Concept. Its HTTP implementation lacks stability and compatibility. It may be useful for developers. Thereof jHTTPp2 should not be used in any production environment.
jHTTPp2 doesn't support IP Version 6 at this time because it was developed with JDK Version 1.3.
If you are looking for a reliable WWW Server, take Apache. If you need a caching WWW proxy sever, try Squid. End-users searching for a ad-blocking proxy should try Junkbuster instead of jHTTPp2. But today any sensible web-browser (e.g. Mozilla Firefox) has built-in features (or plugins) which makes it possible to block images and/or cookies.
At this time (11-2006) I have no time to support this project.
The latest binary (released May 2003) and source code release of jHTTPp2 can be found at the SourceForge project's dowload section.
